Learning Outcome #2

Although I do have a lot of room for improvement when it comes to integrating quotes into my paper, I feel as though I have a better understanding of how and when to use them. We learned that you need to introduce your quote, so the reader understands why you are using the quote, and then follow the quote with analysis and why it helps to advance your argument. Here is an example of my ability to use quotes in my paper. As science advances, it creates the opportunity for new discoveries to be made. Lehrer explains the importance of science, in relation to human health, more specifically with understanding the human brain. He talks about how art can have a huge impact on science and medical discoveries. “Science needs the arts… If we want answers to our most essential questions… science can gain the kinds of new insights and perspectives that are the seeds of the scientific process.” Art gives us a new insight into science that we may not have been able to discover before. Aside from that, art builds the ability for people to problem solve in out of the box ways so when people think about science artistically, they incorporate different ways of approaching investigation and diagnosis when it relates to healthcare. As I stated earlier, I realize that I need more work on integrating quotes into my paper and I plan on using They Say/ I Say to help me do so.
