I chose an article titled Sport is not just about athleticism: beauty matters too by Emily Ryall. in her article, she takes the approach of how you can find beauty in sports, and not just the aesthetic sports such as gymnastics, figure skating etc. For my essay in beauty, I plan on taking the approach of how my community, (the hockey community) can find beauty all throughout our sport.
The two podcasts I plan on using are Elizabeths’s podcast with her sister because in her podcast she talks about persevering and pushing outside of her comfort zone and was able to experience beauty on a whole new level because of she pushed her self. I think this would fit with my essay because in sports in order to get better, you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone and persevere through tough times, so I think her podcast can relate. Along those lines, I think I could use my podcast because Maeghan talks about how she had to overcome some challenges and because of that she makes sure she takes a minute to take in everything around her and not take anything for granted.
I think I may also use Olivia and Emily’s podcast when Bethany talks about her feeling of beauty after watching the presentations of her students and seeing all the hard work that they put into preparing for their presentations finally paid off. I think that can go hand and hand with persevering. If you work hard and push yourself, the final products of what you are working towards can definitely be beautiful and generate the emotions one experiences when they encounter beauty.
wow, these blogs seem a lot higher quality than mine. I like the idea of how your gonna approach your essay and the community you’ve chosen. I think there is a lot of beauty in a sport that goes unnoticed if you don’t understand the sport. as for your podcast, I believe Elizabeth’s is a great podcast for this topic. I think it would be a good idea incorporating your podcast into your essay as well, I think that holds a lot of value when trying to explain your views to the reader. olivia and Emily’s could also work well. final another podcast you could use if needed is V’s.
